Russia’s Aeroflot says sale of Rossiya Airlines not on agenda

MOSCOW, Sep 22 (PRIME) -- Russian national flag carrier Aeroflot is not considering the possibility of selling its stake in affiliate Rossiya Airlines, a representative of Aeroflot told PRIME on Thursday.

Earlier on Thursday, business daily Vedomosti reported citing three federal officials that Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich ordered the Transport Ministry to prepare suggestions for a sale of Rossiya Airlines by Aeroflot.

“The issue of Aeroflot selling a part of its stake in Rossiya Airlines is not on the agenda. The strategy of Aeroflot Group comprises establishment of a national aviation holding, and Rossiya is its part. The strategy was approved by the Russian government,” the representative said.

Aeroflot owns 75% minus one share in the affiliate, while the rest is owned by the government of St. Petersburg.
